The Maroons have advanced to the 2nd Region Championship. They will play Hopkinsville on Tuesday 3/6 for a spot in the KHSAA Sweet 16. I’m calling on all current and former Maroons to be at Maroon Gym for the 7pm tip-off to support these young men as they attempt to win the region for only the 2nd time in the last 20 years. Go Maroons!
Despite having sustained major roof damage, Madisonville North Hopkins High School will host the 2nd Region Boys Basketball Tournament as originally scheduled. Games are set for tomorrow with Madisonville playing Christian Co at 6pm, and Henderson Co will play Hopkinsville after.
The Maroons won the 7th District Championship for the third consecutive season last night. They defeated the Caldwell County Tigers 78-49 improving their season record to 21-8. Four players were named to the all-district team. They were Jawan Combs, Traquille Hopson, Josiah Powell, and Day’Lyn Jones. The Maroons will play in the 2nd Region tournament at HOME next week on either Wednesday or Thursday. The draw for that tournament will be held on Saturday, 2-25.

Due to some technical difficulties, I have been away for a while. Since that time, the Maroons have completed the regular season with a record of 19-8. We have positioned ourselves to be in the race for a regional championship.
The post season begins on Tuesday as the Maroons travel to Caldwell County for the 7th District tournament where we will face Dawson Springs in the first round at 7:30pm. Hope to see you all there.
The Maroons and Lady Maroons will host Dawson Springs in a double-header on Friday, January 13. The boys’ game will begin at 6:00pm and the girls’ game will follow.
Both programs wish to invite all Madisonville ABA and Hopkins County Upward basketball players and head coaches to attend. Any players in their uniform jersey will be admitted free of charge, and all Head Coaches will not be charged either.
After the boys’ game, the boys Upward & ABA players will get a tour of the Maroons locker room while meeting the players. After the girls’ game, the girls Upward & ABA players will visit the Lady Maroons locker room and greet their team members as well.
This night is sure to be fun for all. See you there!
